Guess who is learning the recorder? He is doing really really well. We are going on week three now, and he can play a five note scale. He hasn’t started on songs yet, as the big job is to get him to close the holes with his finger tips hard enough to get a correct sound. The other day he and Jacob played together– he played his scale while Jacob played the tabla!
These pictures are taken from our third-story window. Every day little boys play cricket in the empty lots behind our house. Elias has never shown much interest till this week. Now he is playing –and the older boys are showing him how to bowl and bat. Getting this little introvert to take the step of going outside and interacting with boys who speak no English is always the challenge, but within a few minutes of playing, the language barrier melts away and it’s all fun.
